I've been a Unix sysadmin since 1988, managing local- and wide-area networks of machines running Solaris, FreeBSD, Linux, and a few other OSes.
(June, 1988 to present)

Graphic Designer. I have designed maps, forms, invitations, books, brochures, and other publications for a variety of clients in a variety of industries.
(Fall, 1989 to present)

Walker Art Center, Minneapolis, MN
Freelance editor. I edited various publications for the museum, including two show catalogs and a sample lesson plan for the museum's education department.
(October, 1987 to June, 1988)

The New French Café, Minneapolis, MN
Computer Consultant. I decided how best to use an existing but littlep;used IBM PC for weekly inventory and accounting calculations at the restaurant. I trained the staff to use the machine for those purposes.
(May to August, 1985)

West Publishing Company, St. Paul, MN
Programmer. I wrote device drivers in IBM 360 assembly language under JCL for West's legal database system WESTLAW. In addition, I determined which makes of terminals were worth supporting by WESTLAW.
(Summer 1980)

B.A. in English (Magna Cum Laude) from Columbia College, New York, N.Y., January 1985.

Etc.

I can write code in Python, C, C++, Scheme, Perl, NewtonScript, Pascal, Modula-2, Expect, and the usual Unix utilities, among other languages. I have my own set of animal books. I also know a few human languages; mostly French and Latin. I have a flight instructor certificate for single-engine land airplanes and a commercial license for gliders.
